Mainframe ) Developer
Location : Westlake, TX
Duration : Long Term.
Good morning! Here is an update on the Java/Mainframe developer role I’m
currently supporting. The manager is looking for a candidate that has strong
core Java development as well as experience with COBOL programming. This
resource will be doing 30% Mainframe programming as the business unit moves off
the Mainframe and on to Java, so that is why Java is a Must as well.
Westlake, TX:
Required: 5+ years of core
Java AND COBOL/JCL programming, UNIX and other Mainframe
tools..
Other Preferred Technologies:
WebSphere (ComputeGrid is a plus), zOS, zLinux, Unix USS, MVS, Web Services
(SOAP & REST), JUnit, OOAD, J2EE Design Patterns, Mainframe technologies
(TSO/ISPF, DB2)

This team provides composition and delivery of regulatory
and non-regulatory documents for all lines of business. Project is the middle
of a long project migration off of our Legacy COBOL application and onto a
modern Java based application running on the mainframe. This individual will be
working within a team responsible for the design and development of our next
generation document composition engine.

The
Java Software Engineer/Developer would be focused on the development and
support of our next generation Java system running on WebSphere
ComputeGrid and z/OS.
·
This
environment includes majority development on the PC, and testing and runtime on
USS (Z/OS), zLinux, and MVS (Z/OS).
·
This
application is built upon the IBM WebSphere "ComputeGrid" product,
which provides large-scale batch applications written in JAVA to run on
distributed or mainframe environments.
·
The application is responsible for organizing
and preparing very large amounts of data and from that data creating printable
documents.
·
The applications provide document and statement
generation for many of the business units.
·
Documents are further organized and sent to
internal or external print vendors for printing.
·
Position is with the
development team and includes: development, maintenance, support of the
download applications.
·
We seek
a self-starter, team oriented individual with solid systems analysis and
development skills.

Providing
leadership for junior and senior engineers alike, understands how to leverage
and enhance their current skills
·
Will perform System Analysis as well as design,
develop, test and implement stories related to the development of this new
system.
QUALIFICATIONS:- Bachelor’s
degree in computer science, software engineering or related fields
- 7-10+
years of experience in designing, development and implementation of
enterprise level applications.
- Strong hand-on experience
on core Java development
- Experience with Mainframe (COBOL & JCL) programming
- Good
understanding of Object Oriented Design and Design Patterns, such as
IOC/DI, etc.
- Experience in designing
and developing Web Services, middle tier or backend solutions in an
enterprise environment
Desirable:
- Any Spring framework
(Spring batch, Spring Integration) experience is a plus
- SOAP Web Service
developing using JAX-WS (CXF, Spring-WS, etc.) is a plus
- Experienced in automated
Unit Tests (JUnit, Mockito, etc.)
- Rule engines, such as IBM
WebSphere ODM
- Developing Web Service
using REST
- Rational Application
Developer (RAD), Rational Software Architect (RSA)
- IBM WebSphere Application
Server (WAS)
