Position: Data Modeller

Location: Houston, Texas

Duration: 6 months+

Required Skills:

·         7-15 years of experience with information technology programs and services, with demonstrated

·         expertise in enterprise data management and related technologies

·         Enterprise Data architecture principles and standards, best practices, industry standards

·         Enterprise data model development and standardization experience. Excellent knowledge of

·         Conceptual, Logical and Physical data models

·         Thorough knowledge of Sybase Power designer, Erwin Data Modeller or a comparable data modelling tool

·         Working knowledge of data warehousing concepts and the ability to convert a physical design into a dimensional design

·         Knowledge of Agile development methodology and concepts

·         Participate and oversee all stages of systems development life cycle (requirements, design, coding, testing, and implementation)

·         Create Tables, Views, Indexes, Sequences, PL/SQL Packages, Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, SQL statements in Oracle

·         Performance Tuning including tuning/optimizing existing SQL, PL/SQL code

·         Experience with two or more of the following DBMS technologies: Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase, MySQL…etc.

·         Reviewing Business Requirements Documents (BRDs) and/or User Stories (Agile methodology)and translating them into viable conceptual and subsequently logical data models

·         Translate the business requirements into design artifacts, employing the core design principles

·         Profiling the data in the source system(s) by writing SQL statements

·         Develop mapping documents that demonstrate data lineage

·         Revising data dictionaries, governance practices, and standards

·         Converting logical data models into working physical data models and, document and maintain lineage between the two artifacts

·         Script generation and maintenance and Check-In/Check-Out along with Source Version Controls and generation across multiple database environments.

·         Exposure to Modern data architecture, Big Data In-Memory processing, Hadoop Data Lake, develop models in Data Lake to enable Self-service Business Intelligence

·         Effective communication skills and customer relationship management skills

·         High level of proficiency with PC based software programs and automated database management systems (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)

Desired Skills:

·         Experience with any ETL tool (Informatica, Data Stage, etc.)

·         Experience with any Business Intelligence (BI) tool (i.e. Cognos, Microstrategy, Business Objects,etc.)

·         Experience with any data profiling/data discovery tool such as IBM Information Analyser

·         Understanding of Big Data platforms (e.g. Hadoop, HDFS, NoSQL, DataLake etc)

Education/Certification:

·         Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization (Computer Science or Information Systems)

·         Data management and data architecture related certifications (i.e. TOGAF) is a plus
